CQ type contactors are designed for switching of capacitive circuits (capacitors) in three-phase low voltage networks of voltage up to 400V.
Technologies applied ensure reduction to minimum of transients (overvoltages, overloads) during switching of capacitive circuits. In case of single
capacitor switching by means of traditional capacitors, switching current can reach value 30 times higher than value of the capacitor’s rated current.
In case of capacitor bank with several grades, the value can exceed several hundred times the rated value. Such high currents might cause welding of
contactors’ contacts and damaging of capacitors. Construction of contactor with “smooth switching” circuits ensure switching transients limiting to
value permitted by IEC 60831 standard (≤100ICN by 0,5 of period).
