General information:

AB type capacitor banks are designed for individual and group power factor correction in medium voltage networks up to 24kV (capacitor banks AB-1: up to 12kV).

Capacitor banks AB are manufactured in following executions:
  • AB-1 - equipped with three-phase capacitors internally connected in delta

  • AB-1Y - equipped with single-phase capacitors connected in star

  • AB-2Y - equipped with single-phase capacitors connected in star with unbalance protection CT

Additional equipment depends on individual specification of the customer and might include i.eg.:
  • power fuses

  • inrush current limiting reactors

  • anti-condensation heaters controlled by humidity and temperature sensors

  • microprocessor protection, providing protections:
    - against internal faults (unbalance protection for AB-2Y capacitor banks, Holmgreen system for AB-1 and AB-1Y capacitor banks),
    - over- and undervoltage,
    - overcurrent.

  • additional incoming cubicle equipped with load-break switch or vacuum circuit breaker and protective circuits' CT's.

Special executions foresee outdoor installation and operation in harsh environmental conditions (high temperature, humidity up to 100%, pollution, heavy dust).
Rated powers and voltages of capacitor banks AB-1Y and AB-2Y make series reactors (protective or in harmonics filtering system) connection possible. Reactors can be assembled on steel constructions or in separate cubicle with forced air cooling system.
